The Anti-Corporate Alternative. All Personality. All the Truth. The Truth Behind the Game
Why We Exist
Most sports coverage runs on a quiet trade: broadcasters get access to teams, leagues, and players, and in return, their reporting rarely challenges the people who granted it. The result is a media landscape full of manufactured debates and recycled hot takes, with little examination of the decisions actually shaping the games fans watch. VDG Sports was built on a different premise. We hold no broadcast rights and no sponsorships tied to a league’s cooperation, so we can look closely at the business behind the sport — stadium financing, media contracts, front-office moves — without weighing who might be upset by the answer. That independence is not a tagline. It is the condition that makes the rest of our work possible.
How We Work
Each piece starts with the same question: what is actually driving this story, and who benefits from the version being told? We trace claims back to their source, check them against the public record, and show that process so readers can evaluate the evidence themselves rather than take our word for it. Some of that analysis is direct media criticism; some uses humor to make a recurring pattern easier to notice. Either approach is held to the same standard — a claim earns its place by being demonstrable, not by being repeated often enough to sound true.
A Community of Skeptics
VDG Sports is built for fans who already suspect something is off with how sports get covered, and want the tools to explain why. We treat our audience as participants rather than viewers: we welcome disagreement, correct our own mistakes publicly, and measure success partly by whether readers leave better equipped to question their broader media diet, not only ours. Founded by Vince Douglas Gregory, VDG Sports is an invitation to look closer at the game and the industry built around it.
